STARTING POINT: Historic Strasburg Inn, Route 896, north of Strasburg, PA.

DESCRIPTION: The Strasburg Stoker ride is 26 miles of moderate rolling hills planned with the railroad enthusiast in mind. You can choose to ride on an old steam engine train through Amish farm country, visit the train museum, or visit a pretzel bakery. For an elegant treat, plan to eat at the Historic Strasburg Inn.

POINTS OF INTEREST:
A. Pennsylvania Railroad Museum (717) 687-8628. Admission Charge. Famous steam engines, plush passenger coaches and restored service cars are displayed on 1,300 feet of indoor track in the U. S.'s first building designed for rail museum purposes. Railroad memorabilia are on display and a slide show documents the evolution of the train from the earliest steam locomotives to the sleek speeding trains of today. Open: Year round, daily: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Saturday. Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Location: Route 741, Strasburg, PA 17579.

B. Strasburg Railroad (717) 687-7522. Admission Charge. Chartered in 1832, the Strasburg Railroad is the oldest continually chartered public utility in Pennsylvania. Passengers take a 45-minute ride through beautiful countryside in wooden coaches pulled by a steam locomotive. Open: May through October, daily. March, April, November, December, weekends. C. Toy Train Museum (717) 687-8976. Admission Charge. A large collection of toy tinplate trains dating from the 1800's to the present in three operating layouts. Old time movies are featured. Open: May through October, daily. Location: Paradise Lane, Strasburg, PA 17579.
